Brent Cross Town, the 180-acre new town centre regeneration project in North London, has announced the return of its Brent Cross Town Community Fund. Now in its third year, this grant fund, which has increased to £35,000, is open to small charities and community organisations with new ideas or existing projects that boost local wellbeing and celebrate the community.

Local groups and initiatives based in and around Childs Hill, Golders Green and West Hendon can apply for a £500 – £5,000 share of the £35,000 fund from 15th June – 15th July, with funds expected to be awarded by early August 2021.

Those eligible to apply for the grant include:

  • Informal and formal community groups
  • Local charities and local branches of national charities
  • Schools and educational organisations
  • Not-for-profit organisations
  • Social enterprises

The past two years of community grants have been a great success with 18 diverse community groups being awarded a total of £55,000 funding, with wide-reaching local impacts. In 2021, Brent Cross Town’s Community Fund is keen to champion initiatives that create flourishing communities and that reflect the ambition for the new town centre to be an inclusive, people-first place which strives to be healthy and sustainable. As such, the fund will prioritise entries that support its key themes of Outdoors and Active, Mental and Physical Wellbeing and Community Togetherness.

The fund is being delivered by Semble, an independent organisation which will manage the grant process. Community organisations will be able to apply for the Brent Cross Town Community Fund through Semble’s newly launched funding platform, Action Funder. The platform enables community groups the opportunity to apply for funding with an accessible written or video pitch – making it easier than ever before to give and get funding.

Nick Searl, Partner of Argent Related, commented: “The Brent Cross Town Community Fund is an example of our commitment to providing benefits to the local community from the very beginning of our development. We have provided funds for some very important local projects in previous rounds and we are looking forward to supporting more brilliant initiatives that celebrate the togetherness and wellbeing of the local community.”

Councillor Daniel Thomas, Leader of Barnet Council said: “I am thrilled to see the community fund is back for a third round. So far the fund has had a huge impact on communities in Golders Green, Childs Hill and West Hendon, with over £55k granted to local groups and projects. I look forward to seeing how the fund will support new initiatives that ensure our communities continue to thrive.”

Mark Shearer, Co-Founder of Semble, added:
“After two successful years of delivering community grant funds at Brent Cross Town with Argent Related, we are excited to be launching the fund with our brand-new platform, which will enable the funding process to happen quicker and with more visibility than ever before. We can’t wait to see the projects that get funded this year.”
