The science-led biopharmaceutical company, AstraZeneca UK, has today opened its new 37,000 sq ft headquarters in King’s Cross, London, relocating its team of specialist colleagues from Luton.
AstraZeneca UK has taken 22,000 sq. ft in 2 Pancras Square, in addition to the 15,000 sq ft it has occupied since 2019. The new HQ at 2 Pancras Square will become home to staff working across the medical, marketing, digital, communications, finance and HR functions, which support the UK biopharmaceutical and oncology business teams.
AstraZeneca UK will use its new King’s Cross HQ to drive collaboration and innovation both internally and with the diverse ecosystem of companies on the Estate and in the area. The move also puts the company in the heart of London’s Knowledge Quarter, alongside some of the world’s most innovative organisations, and gives AstraZeneca UK enhanced access to the city’s highly skilled talent pool.
A high spec fit-out has been undertaken to support the business’s new workplace strategy, which encourages office-based working with added flexibility for staff. The bright, welcoming open-plan office also promotes dynamic working through a variety of different working environments.
Tom Keith-Roach, President of AstraZeneca UK, said: “Our move to Pancras Square puts us at the heart of London’s Knowledge Quarter and brings us closer to partners, researchers, innovators and decision makers across the life sciences and healthcare system. This is a very exciting time at AstraZeneca UK, we’re looking forward to getting fully engaged and collaborating across the ecosystem to advance the UK as a life sciences powerhouse and improve societal good health.”
Helen Causer, Office Lead at King’s Cross, added: “We’re delighted that AstraZeneca UK has chosen King’s Cross for its new HQ. With this new office space, the company can bring its UK talent together under one roof and create a truly collaborative working environment. AstraZeneca UK’s move also underlines the importance of collaboration and signifies a returning confidence in office spaces. At King’s Cross, we strive to bring together the most extraordinary minds and having played a pivotal part in the UK’s fight against Covid-19, AstraZeneca is a prime example of this.”
Sarah Dodsworth, Founder & Designer, Ekho Studio, said “We have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to support AstraZeneca UK in bringing to life the bold vision for their new home at Pancras Square. Their new workspace is one you would love to call your own, encompassing the best of workplace design intelligence. It is a place that is flexible by design, inspiring and supremely functional in the same breath; enabling everyone to perform to their maximum potential.”
