Brent Cross Town has today launched its 2023 summer events programme to bring an exciting range of free sports, games, and art and wellbeing activities to the local and wider London community. Beginning on Saturday 22nd July, events will run throughout the summer until Saturday 3rd September, with something on offer Thursday through to Sunday each week.
Held during the school summer holidays, Brent Cross Town is making the most of the break to welcome the community along to fun and inclusive family-friendly events, with a total of 44 sessions taking place across the summer. The line-up this year has been guided by local community feedback through a local survey and in-person drop-in and is Brent Cross Town’s most extensive to date, including a broad range of activities that aim to offer something for everyone. There will be skateboarding, basketball and football sessions, yoga and Pilates classes, baby and toddler groups and arts and crafts workshops.
All the sports and arts activities are hosted by individuals or groups local to Brent Cross Town and some, including F.U.S.E Youth Project, BeLifted and the Keep Rolling Project, have been supported by Brent Cross Town’s annual Community Fund. Now in its fifth year, the Fund has so far supported 42 small charities, community organisations and entrepreneurial individuals working to make a positive impact in the local area and has awarded £130,000 to local projects – with an additional £50k of funding to be awarded for 2023-24.
On Saturday 15th July, Brent Cross Town is hosting Summer in the Park, an exciting community event to celebrate the five-year anniversary of the Brent Cross Town (BXT) Community Fund. Taking place in Claremont Park from 12pm-5pm, this event, open to the whole community, will celebrate the 2023 Community Fund winners, and reveal the recipients of special, ‘people’s project’ funding following a community vote. The event will feature a range of activities and entertainment for all ages, including live music, arts & crafts, facepainting, social games and food vendors and including activities hosted by previous and current recipients of the Community Fund’s support.
