In celebration of International Dog Day on 26 August 2023, dog-friendly destination King’s Cross has announced its first ever dog festival, “The Big Woof” – a Bank Holiday weekend extravaganza from 26-27 August dedicated to our favourite furry friends and their humans.
King’s Cross will kick the Bank Holiday off with a two-day Canopy Market takeover featuring some of London’s best dog apparel, treats and accessories traders, as well as a whole host of events, workshops, demonstrations and collaborations to get tails wagging. The event will take place 11am-6pm each day.
Highlights include:
• Dog shows with categories including ‘waggiest tail’ and ‘best party trick’
• A doggy art exhibition where people can buy dog-related art and where artists will take commissions to paint the public’s pooches
• Dog trick training sessions in Coal Drops Yard from award-winning dogs and their owners
• Dog tarot card reading by Star Mindfulness
• A two-day Canopy Market takeover by The Four Legged Foodies welcoming a host of stylish doggy brands, including Bew Dogs, Caboodle, Hiro + Wolf, Salvatore Paws and Sociable Pup
• A Snuggle Fest pop-up by YapYap
• A two-day dog health and wellness event hosted by Urban Mutts Hotel and Spa
King’s Cross also boasts over 25 dog-friendly restaurants that visitors can take their dogs to, which means after a long day shopping and meeting new canine friends, tired pups can cosy up under a table while their humans enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner.
From delicious dog treats to tasty meals for humans – there’ll be something on offer for everyone.
Chrissy Cullen, Place Marketing Director at King’s Cross, said: “London is increasingly a dog-loving city with ample green spaces and a host of dog-friendly spaces, places and past-times. King’s Cross is no exception: we welcome dogs with open arms and this year we wanted to give our favourite four-legged animals their own summer festival. We hope this is the first of many Bank Holiday Big Woofs and we can’t wait to see all your furry friends here for their big day out!”
King’s Cross is working alongside The Four Legged Foodies & Miss Darcy’s Adventures to curate The Big Woof, which will highlight how the estate is a place for dogs and dog lovers to enjoy all-year round.
Gaynor Jackson from Four Legged Foodies and May Wong from Miss Darcy’s Adventures said: “For years we have championed dog friendly venues. This year we are delighted to be working with King’s Cross to introduce The Big Woof on this year’s International Dog Day. We look forward to a great weekend that celebrates how much we love our dogs.”
