Brent Cross Town’s £50,000 Community Fund celebrates winners of its ‘people’s project’ awards

On Saturday 15 July, as part of Brent Cross Town’s Summer in the Park event in Claremont Park, the Brent Cross Town Community Fund revealed the winners of its special ‘people’s project’ awards.

Keep Rolling Project, Mapledown School, Our Yard and Screen Share UK are the four projects that received the most votes from the local community, and each will now receive an additional £2,500 on top of their share of the original 2023 funding pot.

The ‘people’s project’ awards were introduced by Brent Cross Town this year to celebrate the fifth consecutive year of the Community Fund which attracted more than 1,100 votes by the local community.

  • Keep Rolling is a non-profit events, media, workshop and community project helping to bring female skateboarders into the forefront. Its mission is to create content which has a fairer representation of women and to get more girls on skateboards. Their work is helping to make skateboarding a more inclusive, safe space for women of all ages.
  • Mapledown School is the London Borough of Barnet’s Secondary School for students with Severe and Complex Learning Difficulties. Their students have a diverse level and range of needs. The school works together with stakeholders to help meet the children’s needs and promote learning.
  • Our Yard is a sustainable community-run hub on a mission to build and support resilient communities around Clitterhouse Farm and across North-West London. Located in Clitterhouse Playing Fields, they provide a thriving and socially inclusive space for communities and small businesses to work collectively, run incredible workshops and events that are accessible to all, and more.
  • Screen Share UK helps to support, inform and advocate for digital inclusion for refugees and asylum seekers across the UK. Their aim is to end refugee digital exclusion in the UK, including by collecting, refurbishing and distributing laptops to refugees and asylum seekers, and helping organisations and individuals understand what their options are in terms of digital inclusion.

Morwenna Hall, Partner at Related Argent, said: “Congratulations to the four fantastic winners of our special ‘people’s project’ awards and a big thank you to over 1,100 residents and members of the local community who cast their votes. We look forward to watching all the initiatives awarded funding through this year’s Brent Cross Town Community Fund get up and running, and to see the positive impact they will make in supporting the local community to flourish.”
